Burgers & Fries...Try This On For Size!
This is a kid tested and husband approved recipe! I love when a healthy recipe is enjoyed by the kids too. This is a quick and easy recipe. I love these fries and so glad the cooler weather is back so I can use my oven again. When I make these fries I use sweet potatoes or yams. Both of these work great and are very tasty! They are so good for you too. No guilt with these fries. I usually turn these half way through the baking process, but I forgot and they still turned out great. Just keep an eye on these because every oven is different and it will depend on how big/small you cut these. Here is what I did:
Two yams or sweet potatoes - you can make more if you need too. Preheat oven to 425degrees. Wash them and cut off any gross parts. Cut them into uniform pieces. I like to keep the skin on mine. I topped my baking sheet with tin foil and spray it with Pam Olive Oil spray so they do not stick, but crisp up nicely. Lay the fries down and spray tops with more OO spray. Sprinkle with paprika, curry powder and sea salt. Now this time I forgot to turn them and baked them at 425 for 2o minutes and they were crispy and perfect. I usually turn them half way through. Try it either way, just be sure they get crispy enough! Dip in Ketchup and enjoy :-)
Now, for the chicken burgers. Mix 1lb of ground chicken with garlic powder, onion powder and worcestershire sauce (about a tablespoon and a half - maybe add a bit more for flavor, a dash of sea salt and 1 and 1/2 handfuls of feta cheese. Mix well and form into patties. Just gives the chicken a nice hint of flavor, nothing too overpowering at all. Cook on Medium heat for about 6-7 minutes each side (just make sure your chicken is cooked all the way through).
There you go! Just a simple idea for a quick lunch or dinner! I highly recommend trying the sweet potatoes/yam fries. They are tasty and good for you.
Hope you are all having a nice Tuesday! Please forgive these pictures because they do not do the food any justice. The food tasted much better than it looks in the pics :-)
